In late August, an 8 year old boy came to KCMC for a fracture of his thigh near the hip joint. In the past this fracture would be treated with traction and long term immobilization, but with your help SOAP had provided instrumentation and pediatric specific orthopedic implants making surgery possible.
Together with Dr Virginia Casey online, the KCMC team developed a surgical plan with the new implants. The team then took that plan and the young boy to the operating room where surgery progressed very successfully! We are proud to post pictures of his preop injury and successful postoperative X-rays!
We thank you for your continued support of SOAP and making this teaching event and surgical implant possible! Stay tuned for SOAP’s announcement of our next big project!
