So Much Teaching!

Hello SOAP Friends!  You have seen many photos now of all the teaching our SOAP team was able to do while in the operating room.  In addition to providing instruction in that setting, our team gave daily lectures every afternoon.  Many topics were so popular that the Tanzanian residents asked for recaps!

Dr. Bobby’s favorite way to review the anatomy and physical exam of the foot is to draw all the structures— on me— luckily, sharpie fades…eventually!

Dr. Jason, using one of the pointers of choice in the residents’ room— the model bones that are always nearby!

By special request, Drs. Ani and Josh are giving a impromptu “recap” lecture on the spine bones.

These may be my favorite lecture photos!  Dr. Casey’s lectures on pediatric orthopedics were so well attended that we had to move them to a larger room! Even with the extra space and very interested audience, an afternoon lecture in an un-airconditioned room can lead to some eyelid droop.  Before this lecture, Dr. Casey asked everyone to take a “fake sleeping” pic, which the residents thought was hilarious, hence so many grins!  After, she asked them to pose for a silly pic— Dr. Taher definitely won that one!

So much knowledge was shared with the Tanzanian residents!  Thank you, Friends of SOAP, for being a such a vital part of that endeavor!
